The Biggest Benefits of CCTV Security Cameras for Business in St. Petersburg, FL

As a business leader or property manager, you know how important it is to protect the people and the properties in your care. With burglary and overall crime rates in Florida, having a modern, reliable CCTV security system is more than just smart. It's an investment in your livelihood and ability to provide for your family.

In the past, businesses had to designate a person to watch live video footage on-premises for security. But now, thanks to advanced technology, monitoring can be done remotely from a computer, mobile phone, or tablet. Business security camera setups can keep a 24/7 record of activities on a property, which is highly beneficial for businesses operating around the clock.

One of the biggest reasons to work with a CCTV installation company in St. Petersburg, FL is that they help reduce and eliminate crime from happening in your commercial building. Placing CCTV cameras strategically throughout your business's premises can help deter vandalism, break-ins, and other serious crimes. Recent retail studies show that small businesses can lose up to $50k annually due to these issues, particularly in high-crime areas. With over 275 million reported thefts in businesses worldwide, the installation of a CCTV monitoring system is crucial.

Another factor to consider is that non-retail businesses also face theft, including company property and intellectual property theft. In many cases, employees commit these thefts. When CCTV cameras are in the right spot, they can discourage such behavior, leading to a safer and more productive work environment.

CCTV video surveillance systems offer a cost-effective alternative to having security personnel stationed at your property. That's especially true in situations where human guards aren't needed, or in the case of a smaller business that needs reliable security on a budget. As an added bonus, modern systems - like those from Prime Protection and ADT - make use of increasingly compact and advanced cameras, making them as discreet and effective as they are affordable.

Having surveillance cameras can be highly beneficial if a crime occurs in or around your commercial property. The video footage from CCTV cameras can assist in identifying perpetrators and can be presented to management and law enforcement to pinpoint precise incident locations. Perhaps more importantly, CCTV footage can be used in court to provide crucial evidence if you end up in court.

CCTV Installation for Apartment Complex Landlords, Managers, and Investors

Owning real estate is still one of the best ways to build wealth in America. Today, apartment complexes rank as one of the most popular ways to make a profit in the real estate industry. CCTV camera systems are essential for landlords, building managers, or anyone who owns or operates a multi-family complex. Because Apartment buildings have multiple entry points, shared common spaces, and parking facilities, security concerns are almost always present.

When is Apartment Complex CCTV Installation in St. Petersburg, FL Helpful?

Vandalism and Theft

CCTV cameras are great for discouraging theft and can act as a deterrent for thieves. Keep in mind that if a camera is very visible, it's more likely to be tampered with or stolen before any crimes occur. For apartment complexes, it's important to have tamper-resistant security cameras to ensure uninterrupted footage when you need it. Monitored security cameras often use cloud storage to store live and past footage on a third-party server, so even if the physical camera is damaged, the footage remains safe.

If you own or are looking to invest in an apartment complex or multi-family residence, contact Prime Protection for expert CCTV installation. We'll work with you one-on-one to provide the best security camera solution for your needs. Once you settle on a camera system, our technicians will handle every aspect of installation. Only need to upgrade your cameras? Let's talk about modernizing your CCTV setup today.

A CCTV Installation for Retail Business in St. Petersburg, FL is Key for Loss Prevention

Theft can seriously hurt a retail store's success. No matter how secure you think your store is, there is always a chance that theft can happen. Insurance Purposes

Retail stores often encounter incidents, whether it's a break-in, criminal activity, or innocent mistakes that result in damage. It's important for stores to have surveillance in place to capture evidence for insurance claims and to minimize costs. If incidents go unnoticed or unrecorded, your store may be held liable for any damage or injuries to customers or may have to cover the cost of damaged merchandise. However, having surveillance cameras allows store management to identify the responsible parties and avoid the hassle of paying compensation.

Customer Behavior Insights

CCTV cameras can identify trends in your retail store, like revealing the average daily foot traffic on a given day. This information can help retail store owners anticipate and meet customer demand by adjusting supplies accordingly. Patterns such as increased store visits before holidays, festivals, or sporting events can be identified easily. You can also monitor customers and gain insights into their buying habits using CCTV monitors, enabling you to adjust customer service initiatives accordingly.

When choosing a security provider, research their reputation, ask for references, and check online reviews. In short, go for an established company with a great service history that can meet your needs at a cost you can afford.

Many home and business owners need a comprehensive security solution that involves more than CCTV cameras. Look for a company that offers services and products like ADT monitored alarm systems, fire panel monitoring, elevator monitoring, and interactive services tailored to your organization.

Before agreeing to a security system, be sure to understand the total cost, including monthly fees, start-up costs, and any contractual obligations. A trustworthy CCTV installer should provide a detailed estimate and explain all expenses. If you encounter hidden costs or fees, it's a red flag.

Before choosing a security provider, it's important to do some research. Make sure that they are properly licensed and recognized as a reputable company. Online ratings can provide valuable insight into a company's reputation and business practices. Since your security provider will have access to your business information, it's important to ask detailed questions about their employee selection process and the type of background checks they conduct before hiring. A little due diligence can go a long way.

Still unsure of which CCTV installer to choose? At Prime Protection, we epitomize the qualities above and make it a point to provide thorough, reliable security camera installation options for businesses and homeowners in Florida.

After more than a year of closure, The Florida Holocaust Museum has announced it will welcome visitors back starting Tuesday, September 9th following an extensive renovation.

With a collection of over 25,000 artifacts, The Florida Holocaust Museum, located at 55 5th Street South in downtown St. Pete, is one of the largest Holocaust museums in the country and one of only three nationally accredited Holocaust museums.

The renovation project includes a new entrance with enhanced security features, an open-air second-story balcony, a theater that will house its interactive Dimensions in Testimony exhibit, and a temporary installation housing elements of the Elie Wiesel Collection.

The full Elie Wiesel exhibit, which will occupy the museum’s third floor, will come in a later phase of the museum’s building projects.

In addition to being one of the most famous survivors of the Holocaust, a world-renowned author, and champion of human rights, Wiesel cut the ribbon at The Florida Holocaust Museum’s downtown location in 1998 and was a professor at St. Petersburg’s Eckerd College for nearly 30 years.

The Wiesel Collection includes his Nobel Prize, the contents of his office and library, unfinished manuscripts, letters from world leaders, artwork, and audio recordings, and also honors the contributions of his wife Marion, a fellow survivor who translated many of Professor Wiesel’s writings and worked side-by-side with him in his advocacy throughout their lives.

“This treasure trove of artifacts is a game-changer for the museum, St. Petersburg, and our entire region,” said Michael Igel, Interim CEO & Chair Emeritus of The Florida Holocaust Museum.

“Like the man himself, the Wiesel Collection will be a beacon of hope and a catalyst for action. Elie Wiesel was a master at explaining to all of us why the lessons of the Holocaust matter. Now, through innovative programming and exhibitions, the museum will use his voice to ensure that his legacy always remains relevant.”

The museum will house a portion of documents from Wiesel’s library in the Special Collections at the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library on the University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg campus. They will serve as the foundation for USF’s new Elie Wiesel Center for Humanitarian Ethics.

The museum’s expanded gallery will also feature the recently acquired Danish rescue boat Thor, which was one of several fishing boats used to evacuate Jewish people from Nazi-occupied Denmark to Sweden in late 1943, an effort that saved more than 7,000 lives.

The museum is home to an original cattle car, now on display on original tracks from Treblinka, that was used by the Nazis to transport victims to concentration camps.

The project was led by Hennessy Construction Services in partnership with St. Petersburg-based architecture firm Behar + Peteranecz.

Recovering from last year’s hurricane season and the need for affordable housing are some of St. Petersburg’s most pressing issues.

Three bills passed by the Florida senate – SB’s 462, 1730, and 180 – were all included on St. Petersburg’s 2025 Legislative Agenda.

The “No Vehicle Wake Zone Provision” was passed as a part of SB 462. It makes speeding in flooded areas punishable by a traffic citation. The city said this results in more property damage after hurricanes or major rain events.

That bill was originally sponsored by a bipartisan effort behind Sen. Nick DeCegile and Rep. Lindsay Cross.

The Yes In God’s Backyard provision passed as a part of SB 1730. It allows churches and religious organizations to use their property for affordable housing regardless of zoning.

It’s a win for Mayor Kenneth Welch, who first pushed for it last year and worked with Cross to make sure the provision was included in the bill.

“By listening to our residents and working in coordination with our state partners, these smart, forward-looking policies will ensure that St. Petersburg and Florida, as a whole, will be a safer, more affordable place to live,” Welch said.

As a part of SB 180, the legislature passed the “Crane Safety During Emergencies” provision.

It establishes a set of practices for crane operators before and during storms.

The provision was prompted after heavy winds from Hurricane Milton toppled a crane into a residential building in downtown St. Petersburg.

David Thompson, St. Petersburg’s Director of Government Affairs, said the three bills directly address resident’s concerns.

“It was really important for the mayor and our city council as part of our legislative agenda to tackle some of the most pressing issues, which are safety and affordable housing,” Thompson said.

The bills are awaiting the signature of Governor Ron DeSantis.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — This Saturday hundreds of swimmers are jumping into Tampa Bay from the shores of downtown St. Petersburg to help raise money for cancer research in the Swim Across America event.

St. Petersburg Aquatics has Team BEST with a young swimmer whose family knows all too well the struggles of facing this disease.

But they are also inspiring others.

What You Need To Know

Ahead of the big swim, Emmersan Grieco-Routh, or Emmie, is training for a big challenge coming up.

With her sister by the side of the pool, yelling “keep swimming Emmie, keep swimming,” Emmie took laps at St. Pete’s North Shore facility.

Her name is Francesca or Frankie. Emmie’s big sister. And Frankie loves to cheer from the sidelines.

That sideline will be at Spa Beach in St. Pete, as Emmie will dive into the waters of Tampa Bay for Swim Across America.

It is an open water swim fundraiser, which sounds daunting for any 11-year-old.

The Grieco-Routh family, however, has weathered much more.

“I’ve been through a lot,” said Francesca.

Frankie, who is 13, is also a cancer survivor. Doctors diagnosed her at the tender age of three.

“She still takes daily medications. Medications alter her personality sometimes, but she’s doing OK,” said Frankie’s mom Giselle. “She’s excited. She loves watching her sisters compete.”

Like a coach, big sister Frankie is always there for Emmie and Augustine.

Her sisters have been there for Frankie too, especially during Frankie’s moments of triumph when she rang the bell, signifying the end of treatments.

The recovery is a struggle Frankie still faces today.

“She loves to be near the water,” said Giselle. “But unfortunately, because she now has epilepsy as a result, I believe of her treatments, she can’t do a whole lot.”

Giselle told Spectrum Bay News 9 the girls have inspired each other.

“Frankie is a loving sweet sister,” said Augustine. “And when someone is down, she will always bring them up.”

Augustine is the youngest of the sisters.

Mom was pregnant with her when Frankie began her cancer journey. The family’s experience has motivated Augustine to help others as well.

“If I have the opportunity to come and swim with my sister and I can actually help raise money for kids like my sister, I would love to,” said Augustine.

The sisters are now marking 10 years of Frankie’s fight with Emmie’s swim.

Mom is immensely proud of all of them.

“For always getting out there and giving their best foot forward because their sister cannot,” she said. “Pediatric cancer is really hard to look at; it’s easy to swipe. It’s easy to change the channel, but I think it’s important to see that these kids are fighting and their parents hurting.”

And the family is challenging all of us to join the fight.

Emmie will do the half-mile swim for the first time with her St. Petersburg Aquatic’s Team BEST.

The funds raised will go to cancer research at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Since 2012, the Tampa Bay Swim Across America event has collected $2 million for the hospital.
