If there's one thing that homeowners in Clermont can agree on, it's that security and safety risks are part of life. You assume some risk - even if it's small - every time you walk out of your front door. Fortunately, there are many procedures and processes in place to protect us from being victims of crimes, especially in public areas like grocery stores. But what about when we're at home? According to the FBI, property crime accounts for more than 85% of all crime in the U.S. In fact, almost 4.8 million cases of property crime were reported in 2021 alone, with 50% of people reporting that they believe a property crime could happen to them.
If you live in Clermont, chances are you've heard of or know someone personally who has been affected by a break-in or robbery. Property crimes and package theft are higher than the national average, at 53% and 61% respectively. Could you imagine coming home from dinner out with your family, only to see your front door smashed in and your belongings gone? Of course, being the victim of a home break-in is about more than disposable items like TVs and electronics. When the sacred space of your home is violated, you lose peace of mind. What's stopping the criminals from coming back and robbing your home again? Will they tell other criminals that your home is an easy target? Will your children be able to sleep at night knowing that their home has been broken into?
If you're like other Clermont homeowners and believe that peace of mind and safety is priceless, ask yourself this: "What am I doing to make sure my home is protected from burglars?" For most, the answer to that question begins by installing a home security system in Clermont, FL. Whether you live in a gated community miles from a metropolitan area or you enjoy the hustle and bustle of the big city, having a home alarm system is a smart investment. Modern home security systems do more than sound an alarm if someone breaks in - they can include home automation features that make your life easier and can even help reduce energy consumption. But that's just the start. Let's take a look at some of the biggest reasons why you should consider investing in a burglar alarm for your home in Clermont.
The top reason to buy a security system for your home is for the protection it provides. From home intrusions and burglaries to fires and even natural disasters, today's residential home monitoring systems work even when you're not there. They can also help in the event of a medical emergency. Buying a robust alarm or camera system for security is an investment.
However, when you discover that the average burglary costs homeowners more than $2,600 per victim (according to the FBI), the cost starts to make a lot of sense. When you're the victim of a home break-in, the damage goes beyond fiscal. There's long-lasting psychological damage that occurs, too, and having a home security system can help prevent that trauma.
Research conducted by Professor Joe Kuhns of the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at UNC Charlotte found that nearly 60% of burglars planned their break-ins less than 24 hours before attempting them. Additionally, 83% of burglars surveyed reported that they looked for signs of an alarm system, and over half of them stated that they would abandon their plans if they saw one. This research underscores the effectiveness of visible alarm system indicators such as ADT stickers, yard signs, and outdoor cameras in deterring potential burglars, as their crimes are often opportunistic in nature.
By installing a home security system, you can have peace of mind, knowing that your home is protected whether you're away or asleep. Plus, modern wireless security systems from ADT that are connected to the internet also allow you to check on your home from anywhere in the world. So, if you're on a business trip in Dubai and want to check on your home, you can do so in a moment's time.
When you have a professionally installed home alarm system from a company like Prime Protection, many home insurance companies offer you a discount on the price of your premium. More substantial discounts typically apply to systems that include environmental monitoring for smoke, water damage, fire, and intrusion monitoring. While a discount on your home insurance may not cover the total home security camera system in Clermont, FL, it can make having one more affordable over time. Plus, if you need to file an insurance claim for a break-in or other event, having high-def, reliable video footage can be incredibly beneficial.
Safety products like ADT-monitored home automation systems can include home automation features that provide convenience and energy savings, making it easier to save time and money. Smart lights and thermostats, when paired with a security system, can adjust themselves to save energy when the system is armed. Additionally, smart door locks and connected garage door openers can offer a secure way to allow friends and family into your home.
In case of an emergency, home automation security systems can offer fast and efficient response times. Whether it's alerting you to a potential threat at your back door or contacting emergency services or the police automatically, these systems help ensure that help is nearby when you truly need it most.
We are proud members of the following organizations:
Many wireless home security systems from ADT work with a smartphone app. This makes keeping up with your pets and family much easier. For example, motion and door sensors will alert you if someone is sneaking around your property. But they can also alert you when your child walks in the front door after school, if an older adult in your home gets out of bed.
Want to learn more about the products and services offered at Prime Protection? We offer a wide range of home security alarm products, from affordable security cameras to fully monitored home protection plans that include automated features. Here are just a few of the most popular products we provide to homeowners and commercial clients in Clermont:
By integrating a home automation system, you can turn your house into a futuristic living space. Automating your home provides you with control over various aspects such as lighting, energy efficiency, home security, and video doorbells. A few features of ADT's monitored home automation package include the following:
When it comes to home robberies, almost 34% of criminals come through your front door. Doorbell cameras with motion detection from ADT can help you keep unwanted guests away from your home. When your doorbell camera detects someone at your front door, you'll get an alert on your smartphone. When you're not at home, you can see and communicate with anyone who happens to be at your front door, from delivery drivers to neighbors.
Doorbell camera features include:
These days, having a reliable alarm system for your home in Clermont is essential. Aras like Sunny Isles Beach has seen an increase in property crime at more than 12 incidents per 1,000 people in 2024 alone. With hurricanes and other natural disasters occurring often, it's normal to be concerned about your property.
Fortunately, ADT's home alarm system covers various aspects of home protection, including monitoring for burglaries, fire, flood, and carbon monoxide. Prime Protection LLC offers additional features like video monitoring, door lock and unlock, thermostat adjustment, garage door control, light control, and even the ability to see and communicate with visitors at your front door through home automation options.

CLERMONT — Call Harold and Kumar, White Castle is breaking ground in Clermont.
It's the second White Castle to open in Florida. Another will open soon in Kissimmee, too.
The company plans to open the "highly anticipated" White Castle in late summer 2025, according to a press release.
In case you haven't visited a White Castle, it's the first fast-food hamburger chain in, well, the world, founded in 1921.
Billy Ingram launched the family-owned business with $700 and the idea of selling 5-cent, small, square hamburgers that are easy to eat in Wichita, Kansas. He invented the term "sliders" and sold them by the sack.
White Castle's signature small square burgers, also known as sliders, are made with a unique steaming method that involves shaping patties with holes to absorb flavor, and they steam on a bed of onions on the grill for enhanced flavor.
Its owners, the Ingram family, are historically against franchising.
The largest free-standing White Castle in the world opened in southwest Orlando in 2021.
The new 3,220-square-foot restaurant will include indoor and outdoor seating and two drive-thru lanes.
It is expected to create 75 new jobs.
And the Clermont White Castle will sport the chain's iconic tower "in a sleek, modern industrial-style architectural design," the company's press release said.
The Clermont White Castle will be located at 4551 Collina Terrace, Clermont, in the Plaza Collina development at State Road 50 and Plaza Collina Boulevard.
Brand leaders, ambassadors ("and a surprise guest or two") will welcome elected officials and development partners to celebrate a groundbreaking on April 9, according to the company's release.

CLERMONT, Fla. - A Lake County man is accused of firing a rifle outside an apartment complex in Clermont while children were nearby.
What we know:
A Clermont man, Christopher Gaffney, is accused of firing a rifle outside the Skyline Apartments while children were nearby. He told officers that he had been watching a military movie and decided to practice target shooting. He made a makeshift target out of a tree and fired several shots, missing the target multiple times. No one was injured.
What we don't know:
The exact reasoning behind Gaffney’s decision to fire the rifle in a residential area remains unclear. While he claimed to be practicing, the circumstances surrounding his choice of location and his intentions are still not fully explained. The apartment complex did not confirm the shooting incident.
The backstory:
Gaffney, a 30-year-old resident, used a rifle that belonged to his grandfather for the shooting. He fired the weapon at a target set up in a common grassy area of the apartment complex. Witnesses observed the situation and called 911 after seeing him shoot near children who were playing nearby.
Timeline:
The shooting incident occurred at the Skyline Apartments in Clermont, with the 911 call being made once the witness saw Gaffney shooting near children. Officers responded quickly, finding Gaffney with the rifle in hand. He was arrested and is currently being held in a Lake County jail on charges, including using a firearm under the influence.
What they're saying:
Gaffney: "I was watching... actually a military movie."
Officer: "So you came out here, in a common area, with a loaded rifle, and hung a target up because you weren’t planning on shooting it?"
Gaffney: "That is correct."
Apartment Resident: "That's scary. I don't think that's OK at all, especially in an apartment complex like this."
This exchange highlights the absurdity and danger of Gaffney’s actions, especially in a shared residential area with children present.

Two commercial projects headed to Clermont are highlighting the city's development boom.
First, Florida Engineering Group in Orlando is planning a 7,000-square-foot building to be added to Magnolia Pointe Center at West Colonial Drive and Magnolia Pointe Boulevard.
The site is across West Colonial from Plaza Collina, the mixed-use development home to a Costco and whose other newcomers in the works include a White Castle restaurant.

The new building, which will go on the empty plot in the northeast of the 22-acre commercial property, will feature three quick-service restaurants, plus an outparcel for a Twistee Treat location. A site plan included in the documents indicates Potbelly Sandwich Shop, Fortuna Latin Bakery and Blended Bistro & Boba will split the 7,000-square-foot building.
The commercial center already features a Dunkin' and a Paradise Grills alongside a variety of medical providers.
Florida Engineering applied for the project on behalf of the owner, Lake Magnolia Properties LLC, an entity connected to Orlando investor Bassel Maali, which bought the property for $1.2 million in 2008, according to Lake County records.
Executives with Florida Engineering and Lake Magnolia Properties were not available for comment.
Farther west, Winter Park-based MEI Partners LLC is developing a 6,920-square-foot office, retail and restaurant building at 935 W. Minneola Ave. in the west end of the city's downtown district. The project will include an outdoor patio section.

The building will replace the existing duplex on the half-acre property, which is owned by Jude Meus and Marie Geralde, who bought the land vacant in 2007 for $240,000, according to property records. Neither the owners nor MEI could be reached for comment.
The project will be just southeast of the incoming mixed-use Lumberyard District from local developers Wolfe & Wallace Properties Inc.
As outlined in city documents, the Lumberyard project is to include:
Both the Minneola Avenue and Magnolia Pointe projects were approved by the city council on March 11, though the Magnolia Pointe development will have a second hearing regarding aesthetics.
Marie Shorey, president of Maitland-based real estate firm Palkiper Commercial Real Estate Services, which has other projects in Clermont, said the city is in the midst of absorbing growth from the Orlando market.
"The natural expansion of Central Florida is going in that direction," she said, pointing to Colonial Drive and U.S. Highway 27 as connectors from multiple directions. "People have been planning for a long time to build residential there. Now they need services."
The south shore of Lake Minneola is also being redeveloped, another factor Shorey said is bringing people and developers to the city. "Lakes attract people."
Clermont had the second fastest growing ZIP code in metro Orlando, according to data in December from the American Community Survey. The city saw a 39% rise in its population from 2019 to 2023, bringing its total up to 25,407.
Shorey said the next thing the city needs is a major operation. "What I’m waiting to hear about is some new large employer. We have decent employers …but I’m waiting to hear about some huge employer who is ready to move out of some high-tech state and … bring thousands of jobs."

CLERMONT, Fla. – White Castle has announced it’s breaking ground in the hills of Clermont for its second Central Florida brick-and-mortar location.
In 2021, 100 years since its founding, the hamburger chain opened what’s billed as the largest free-standing White Castle in the world — as well as Florida’s only standalone White Castle at the time — right here in Orlando.
Over in Clermont, a 3,220-square-foot “sister property” to the Orlando joint is expected to feature modern architecture, indoor and outdoor seating, two drive-through lanes and the creation of 75 jobs.
The Clermont location is expected to open in late summer 2025, according to a news release. A groundbreaking ceremony is set for 10 a.m. April 9 in the Plaza Collina development along W. Colonial Drive, the release states.

News 6 previously learned from White Castle that sites for new restaurants were confirmed in Clermont and Kissimmee. Further, though White Castle has filed permits to build a “5,000 square foot quick service restaurant in the I-Drive district,” specifically off the Northeastern corner of Universal Boulevard and McKenna Drive — mere minutes away from Universal’s soon-to-be-completed Epic Universe — the brand did not confirm the I-Drive plans to News 6.
Elsewhere in Orlando, White Castle also operates a “Crave & Go” location — only offering pickup and delivery — at 11814 Glass House Lane.
Stick with News 6 for updates.
Clarification:
A previous version of this story reported News 6 had previously confirmed plans for White Castles in Clermont and Kissimmee. This story has been updated to more clearly explain that while permits have been filed for another location in the I-Drive district, one separate from the two previously mentioned, the brand has not confirmed such plans to News 6.
